The ninth and final season of Last Man Standing will soon be airing in the US on Fox, and the first episode has a special air date of Sunday January 3, 2021.
However, the sitcom will get a visit from an unexpected guest in the upcoming episode ‘Dual Time’ and it’s all thanks to Tim Allen and his former alter ego – yep, Mike Baxter will have an encounter with Tim ‘The Tool Man’ Taylor from Home Improvement.
A newly released season nine trailer for Last Man Standing shows the Tool Time host appearing in Mike’s kitchen after Vanessa hires a home improvement repairman who looks exactly like her husband.
The trailer also hints that the coronavirus pandemic is being written into the storyline as Mike, Vanessa, Mandy and Kyle all appear via a video chat.
When the final season was confirmed, Allen made a statement that described his time on the show and what the final season means to him.
“I’ve been one lucky dude to have been part of Last Man Standing,” he said.

“I so appreciate the incredible support from our fans over this near decade of work. As we approach the ninth season, I just admire and feel grateful for all the hard work our wonderful cast and crew have done.
“We had all considered to end the show after last season, but together with Fox, we decided to add a year so we could produce a full season to create the gentle and fun goodbye. I’m looking forward to a memorable and hilarious final season.”
Last Man Standing’s final season airs on Sunday January 3, 2021 at 8:30pm ET on Fox. It will then air on Thursdays at 9:30pm ET from January 7, 2021.
