Romanza’s stunning interior design showcased in Gulf Shore Boulevard luxury custom home

Romanza Interior Design’s stunning design showcased in this Gulf Shore Boulevard luxury custom home.

The magic created by Romanza Interior Design is on full display in a London Bay-built luxury private custom home on Gulf Shore Boulevard. Designed by MHK Architecture & Planning, the expansive gulf-view home of Rob and Cathy Funderburg is the ideal stage for a truly inspired design showcasing both the personality and aesthetic of its homeowners and the expertise of Romanza’s Senior Design Director Jennifer Stevens.

“The Funderburgs brought really clear ideas of what they wanted in their home’s interior design,” said Ms. Stevens. “The whole process, from concept to completion, was really a collaborative team effort. For example, we incorporated a favorite piece into the wine room from American artist Jennifer Bartlett that was important to Rob and Cathy.”

Ms. Stevens employed a crisp white on white design throughout the home, with warm wood flooring unifying the great room, dining area and kitchen. White painted wood trim details on the ceilings add coastal flair and architectural interest. Here, a beautiful plaster range hood complements with a full height soapstone splash, a Lacanche stove and a show-stopping marble waterfall island. The refrigerator seamlessly disappears into streamlined cabinetry adorned with antique brass hardware.

Spectacular gulf views informed much of the home’s interior design. In the great room, sky blue contemporary skirted wingback chairs and a collection of blue and white porcelain join a pair of white sofas.

Upstairs, a lounge, terrace and office share a view of the gulf. A comfortable, light-filled living space with white-painted wood paneling the cupola walls and ceiling is outfitted with a creamy white sectional and a natural texture rug. Another colorful piece of the homeowner’s dynamic artwork infuses the room with a lively spirit. Nearby, a handsome study features deep turquoise-painted built-in bookshelves and a pair of linen reading chairs.

A sophisticated black and white-themed guest suite features a bedroom with graphic palm frond-patterned wall covering accented with touches of apple green. Its sitting room offers a collection of casual seating, a built-in console TV, with a convenient morning kitchen, and a distinctive wood-painted floor in a green and turquoise old Florida trellis pattern — a nod to the old “Palm Beach” style.

The kitchen features a beautiful plaster range hood complementing a full height soapstone splash, Lacanche stove and a show-stopping marble waterfall island.

In the serene owner’s suite, Ms. Stevens blends tones and textures of pale blue and alabaster in the headboard, seating and drapery. Its marble-rich bath features dual showers, including a luxe glass-enclosed soaking tub and shower area, paired with illuminated toe-kick vanities in white.

A thoughtfully designed utility room with a blush and white palette blends ample storage space, a convenient built-in desk, and a laundry area offering a deep farmhouse sink and a marble counter. Ms. Stevens selected a deep blue and gold combination in the wine room, which presents the ideal space for fashionably storing spirits and sparkling stemware.

Weiland lift-and-slide doors in the main living room open wide to an outdoor living area, boasting welcoming views of a sparkling pool trimmed with crisp blue and white circular patterned tile.

Cathy Funderburg appreciated the working relationship she developed with Ms. Stevens.

“She’s been terrific, she’s been very organized. Everything is spelled out. You go into the room and everything is laid out and it’s just so fun, it’s great,” she said. “I’m looking forward to having friends and family enjoy our home with us.”
