New home going up for Designer Homes, RE/MAX Legacy Realty in south Fargo

A two-story, 21,800-square-foot building at 3250 47th St. S. is planned for completion by July or August, said Robert Leslie, owner and president of the firms.

“We’ve grown quite a bit from the RE/MAX side and the Designer Homes side and so we needed a new location that gave us the space for everybody here,” Leslie said Wednesday, Jan. 6. “We love the location over there, because it’s a really nice community of other businesses and restaurants.”

The new headquarters, just west of the busy intersection of 45th Street and 32nd Avenue South, will make it easier for homebuilder Designer Homes to help buyers customize and envision their completed homes.

“We needed to create a 2,500-square-foot design selection studio, for our clients to be able to see all the different flooring options, and light fixtures, and appliances and kitchen cabinetry and be able to come into this beautiful space and make all their selections for their new home. We’re also able to entertain them while they are there. So that was a big thing for us,” Leslie said.

“We’re doing a lot of things that are kind of a first in our community,” Leslie said. “We’re going to have a 3D studio in there where clients are going to be able to see their homes come to life before they start.”

Designer Homes and RE/MAX Legacy are now at 4342 15th Ave. S.

Leslie said discussion about the move started two years ago, with plans finalized last summer and construction begun in the fall. Delays for labor and materials have not been serious, despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, he said. On Wednesday, it appeared that workers were nearly done enclosing the building.

“It could be a lot worse. We’re fortunate to be where we’re at,” Leslie said.

Leslie said the Fargo-Moorhead housing market is “very strong.”

“One of the nice things about our community is that it is such a conservative community. We don’t have a bunch of fluctuations in value,” he said. “It’s a really good place to do business.”
