UC Master Gardeners announces plant sale

Visit mbmg.ucanr.edu to read current information about “What to do In the Garden,” Wildfires and the Garden” and Fall Pop-Up Plant Sale. The plant sale starts Oct. 13 featuring veggies, succulents and seasonal decorations. With respect to social distancing practices, safety and convenience, all orders will be fulfilled by appointment at our greenhouse in Salinas. All funds benefit the all-volunteer UC Master Gardener program, which offers a gardening help line, events and seasonal classes designed to educate our local home gardening community with research-based, sustainable landscape practices.

Santa Cruz Permaculture offers calls and classes

Visit https://santacruzpermaculture.com/communitypermaculture/ to sign up for free permaculture community calls. From 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesdays from Oct. 6 to Dec. 8, practice permaculture each week at a “village campfire” of ongoing interactive group calls. Hosted by experienced permaculture mentors including Santa Cruz Permaculture founder David Shaw. Topics include composting, planting garlic and strawberries, mulch, fire preparedness, simple rainwater harvesting, orchard design and maintenance, and more. Each call includes a keynote talk followed by a small group conversation for reflection, and a whole group conversation and Q&A. The calls close with invitations for how you can apply what you’ve learned in your home and community.
